November 2, 2008 - After some tenuous
moments during Friday practices and one sprint race, the crew for Bob
Saville was able to trace down elusive fuel starvation issue and allow
Bob and #89 "Papa Smurf" run through the field and finish 1st in class
in 2 sprint races and the Sunday 90 minute enduro.
All day Friday, John Forbes of Black
Forest Racing chased what seemed to be a fuel issue in the carbs or fuel
pump. John completely rebuilt the carbs, and replaced the fuel pump with
no affect. Finally, with nothing left to try, the team decided to look
at the fuel filter....which looked like it had been filtering the Great
Swamp. With all the dirt and crud in it, it was amazing any fuel got by
at all!! Well, it was doing what it's suppose to, right?
So, once the filter was replaced, the
car ran great allowing Bob to run through much of the field.
Unfortunately, in one of the sprint races on Saturday, a flat tire ended
the race for the team while again leading the class. But once new shoes
were put on Papa, the Sunday enduro was an easy win, with Bob coming in
7th overall in the group behind a few G and H class cars. (check
some out race video's
here)

Nadine also entered #414 "Huey" into
the Carolinas Challenge Charity Car show and won Best Race Car!
Huey is finally getting out in the world after the 9 month rebuild after
the Targa Newfoundland 2007 wreck.
A big Thank You goes out to John and
Cody Forbes and Chris Luker from Black Forest Racing, and Bill Dunster
for all the help keeping Bob running all weekend, and getting Huey in
shape to be back on the road again!
